Tzvi Hirshaut has practiced intellectual property law for more than 25 years.  He has prepared and prosecuted patent applications and engaged in IP litigation, transactions, and due diligence.

Mr. Hirshaut’s experience spans a wide range of electrical, computer and other technologies, including wireless networks and devices, mobile applications, broadcast and streaming media delivery and program guides, digital television, cloud computing, wireless mesh networks, satellite communications, computer software, e-commerce, optical discs, video and audio compression, audio devices, digital signal transport, semiconductors, encryption, automated laboratory diagnostic equipment, exercise equipment, footwear, and toys.  He has also obtained design patents for a variety of products.

In addition, Mr. Hirshaut has extensive experience evaluating patents for multiparty patent pools for various technical standards, including patent pools for optical discs, digital television, and video coding standards.   For over a decade, he helped determine whether or not patents submitted for possible inclusion in a particular patent pool were essential for implementing the technical standard covered by that patent pool.

Before joining Weiss & Arons, Mr. Hirshaut worked at several law firms including Proskauer Rose LLP, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, and Amster, Rothstein & Ebenstein LLP.
